Places to celebrate Valentine’s Day in Hopewell Valley

Everyone always seems to be in a hurry these days, but Valentine’s Day is one of the few days of the year when people can be seen slowing things down and enjoying the company of their significant others.

Many restaurants make the most of these rare days of affection by offering special menus on Feb. 14—which falls on a Tuesday this year—and many of Hopewell Valley’s dining establishments have revealed special multicourse menus for the occasion.

The Brothers Moon

The Brothers Moon (7 W. Broad St., Hopewell Borough) has planned a “special aphrodisiac menu” for Valentine’s Day this year. The five-course, $79 prix fixe dinner is set to feature main course options of braised beef short rib, sun-dried tomato and caper-stuffed salmon or rosemary roast chicken. Dessert for two will feature rosemary shortbread, lemon coconut cheesecake dip, honey ice cream, almond chocolate toffee and white chocolate sauce.

For those feeling a different kind of communion—one with nature—The Brothers Moon will also be having a special “Offal Night” on Friday, Feb. 24. Possible menu items that night will include chicken fried sweetbreads, grilled chicken hearts with parsley and vinegar, chicken liver pate, pig’s ear salad, beef heart with chimichurri, steak and kidney pie, pig’s cheek ravioli, tongue tacos, beef liver and onions. brothersmoon.com.

The Blue Bottle Café

The Blue Bottle Café (101 E. Broad St., Hopewell Borough) four-course, $72 prix fixe menu is also set to feature a main course option of braised short rib, in addition to four other choices: Viking Village scallops, Griggstown chicken, Atlantic grouper or duo of lamb. Among the second course choices are cavatelli with wild boar ragout and smoked trout with celeriac remoulade. Starting at 5 p.m. thebluebottlecafe.com.

Brick Farm Market

Brick Farm Market (65 E. Broad St., Hopewell Borough) has a five-course, $65 prix fixe menu set for a 7:30 p.m. seating. The planned menu will feature onion bisque, chicken galantine, gnocchi Parisian, beef bourguignon and crème brûlée. brickfarmmarket.com.

Hopewell Valley Vineyards

For those not free to slow down on a Tuesday night, Hopewell Valley Vineyards (46 Yard Road, Pennington) is set to host a Valentine’s Day Brunch on Sunday, Feb. 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets are $33.35 and include ricotta pancakes, wood-fired breakfast pizzas, artisinal cheeses, sausage, potatoes, fruit salad and baked goods. Wine and other beverages will be sold separately. hopewellvalleyvineyards.com.

Wine and Chocolate Tastings

Other area wineries, including Terhune Orchards (330 Cold Soil Road, Lawrence) and Old York Cellars (80 Old York Road, Ringoes) are offering wine and chocolate tastings the weekend of Feb. 11–12. terhuneorchards.com and oldyorkcellars.com.
