Area residents recently became certified as Rutgers Master Gardeners of Mercer County at a graduation ceremony held at the Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Mercer County. The graduates will join a group of experienced volunteers who supply home horticultural and environmental information to residents.
The Class of 2014 graduates are Karen Bennett, Cindy Capritti, Torin Dilley, Katherine V. Dresdner, Katherine (Kate) E. Dresdner, Barbara Gliddon, Diane Hennessy, James T. Hurly, Adrian Hyde, Krista Kerr, Ruth H. Larsson, Teresa M Sanchez-Lazer, Sally Lewis-La Monica, Mary Loetscher, Audrey W. Luth, Marianne McComb, Jane A. Murphy, Karen B. Prager, Keith R. Sagers, Nancy Santiago, Grace Seale, Wayne Steffee, Sally Weisman and Ursula Wooley.
Special recognition awards were received by those who volunteered over 100 hours in fulfilling their requirement for graduation. This award went to Diane Hennessy, Ursula Wooley, Cindy Capritti, Jim Hurly, Barbara Gliddon, Keith Sagers, Kate Dresdner, Katherine Dressner, Wayne Steffee, Karen Prager and Nancy Santiago. Special recognition for volunteering over 60 hours on the Rutgers Master Gardener Helpline went to Jim Hurly, Cindy Capritti, Audrey Luth, Katherine Dresdner, Kate Dresdner, Keith Sagers, Ursula Wooley and Krista Kerr.
The graduates completed 60 hours of instruction provided by Mercer County Horticulturist Barbara J. Bromley, faculty from Rutgers Cooperative Extension, the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station and other horticultural experts in a wide variety of horticultural related subjects. They also completed at least 60 hours of volunteer service to Mercer County.
The Rutgers Master Gardeners of Mercer County is a volunteer educational outreach program of Rutgers Cooperative Extension.
