Congregation Beth Chaim’s students have joined the synagogue’s longstanding commitment to feeding homeless families served by HomeFront. Seventh through ninth grade Beth Chaim students bring requested items to the synagogue as part of a regular sign-up process and spend part of their Monday evening religious school program making 30-40 sandwiches and bagging individual meals. Children served by HomeFront receive these donated meals in conjunction with their Tuesday Fitness Night program.
Beth Chaim’s Tikkun Olam committee, whose motto is “Making the World a Better Place One Mitzvah at a Time,” regularly provides a full dinner for a group of over fifty attending HomeFront’s tutoring program at ETS. The children in both the fitness and tutoring groups come from a HomeFront housing program including Family Preservation Center, Permanent Housing Program and Transitional Living Program.
