Eighteen months since signing a 10-year sublease with Citizen’s Bank, Robbinsville Township has moved into what we hope will be our permanent home at 2300 Route 33!
While our police department, dispatch and Hightstown Police are not scheduled to occupy the building until next month, all other municipal operations formerly served at 2298 Route 33 are now just a few yards away in a refurbished, 47,000 square foot facility currently anchored by the Robbinsville and Hightstown Borough Municipal Court on the first floor.
The shared services agreement with Hightstown matches the 10-year sublease with each municipality paying its share of the costs based upon each town’s proportional use of the square footage. The municipalities will share utility costs in the same proportion as the construction costs, with Robbinsville accounting for approximately 68 percent and Hightstown coming in at roughly 32 percent.
The rest of the departmental layout of the building, which currently only allows for entrance from the rear parking lot (not the Route 33 side) and is equipped with elevators to all floors, is as follows:
First Floor: Municipal Court, Robbinsville/Hightstown Dispatch, Robbinsville Police Department.
Second Floor: Municipal Clerk, Township Archives, Robbinsville and Hightstown Police Department Administrative offices.
Third Floor: Administration, Finance, Tax Collector and Sewer, Tax Assessor, Affordable Housing, Community Development, Construction, and Recreation, which relocates from 66 Sharon Road in the Miry Run Recreation Area.
The first official Township function we expect to host is the May 7 EDAC Bagels and Business networking event from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the new, state of the art second floor public meeting room. The first Council meeting at 2300 Route 33 is scheduled for May 14 at 7 p.m.
The Tax and Sewer payment drop box is still located at 2298 Route 33, as is the Mercer County Election drop box. Cameras are still operational at that property for your safety and security.
Thank you to former Mayor Dave Fried for his incredible vision a handful of years ago. He correctly recognized that leasing unused commercial space with a future option to buy, instead of paying enormous post-COVID-19 mark-up for new construction, was the path forward once our court and police department buildings had long reached the end of their lives.
All phone numbers and extensions with the exception of the Municipal Court fax, which is in the process of being brought over, remain the same.
I could not be more proud of our staff and the myriad of professionals that helped bring this enormously complex project closer to the finish line, and we cannot wait to welcome you to our new home!

As a reminder, due to the recent closing of the Route 539 bridge by Monmouth County, Allens Road is closed to thru traffic effective immediately until further notice.
Allens Road is open to local traffic and residents ONLY until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience, but this decision – made in coordination with our Police, Fire and Community Development/Engineering Departments — is out of an abundance of caution for your safety as we work to dramatically limit the number of trucks and other large vehicles from that roadway while the 539 bridge is being repaired.
Mike Todd is the Mayor and Director of Public Safety for the Township of Robbinsville.
