Gymnasts Katie Prikril (Lawrenceville), Nicolette Pawar (Lawrenceville) and Nicole Kedoin (West Windsor) competed at the Stars and Stripes Cup in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Local gymnasts representing Motion Gymnastics of Pennington recently competed in the final selection event for the U.S. World Championships and Age Group Competition Team at the 2013 Stars and Stripes Cup in Daytona Beach, Fla.
From Aug. 29 to Sept. 1, Nicole Kedoin, Nicolette Pawar, and Katie Prikril competing among 300 trampoline and tumbling athletes at the Ocean Center. This was their first level 9 competition.
Twelve-year-old Kedoin, of West Windsor, a USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic Trampolinist finished in seventh place for trampoline.
Nine-year-old Pawar, of Lawrenceville, a USA Gymnastics Junior Olympics Trampolinist and Tumbler finished fifth on trampoline and third in tumbling.
Nine-year-old Prikril, of Lawrenceville, a USA Gymnastics Junior Olympics Trampolinist and Tumbler finished second in tumbling and fourth on trampoline.
Trampoline events involve athletes using trampolines that can propel them up to 30 feet in the air, during which they can perform double and triple twisting somersaults. All three girls successfully completed double back saltos on the trampoline in their routines.
During tumbling, the gymnasts utilized elevated rod-floor runways, which enabled them to jump at heights more than 10 feet and execute a variety of acrobatic maneuvers.
