Princeton Shakespeare Company is set to present As You Like It at Princeton Battlefield on Sept. 28.
The free show at the battlefield is scheduled for 6 p.m.
PSC’s performance is part of Princeton Battlefield Society’s Revolution at Princeton event. The event is scheduled for 1 to 8:15 p.m. at the battlefield, 500 Mercer Street, Princeton.
Revolution at Princeton features artillery demonstrations by the 4th Battalion Royal Artillery. Hourly demonstrations are scheduled for 1 to 4:30 p.m.
The event also includes guided tours, a Princeton Photography Club exhibition and camp life demonstrations.
Prior to As You Like It, John Burkhalter of the Practicioners of Musick is set to play music and performing artist John Smith is set to recite poetry by American Revolution-era poet Philip Freneau.
Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and a flashlight to the play.
In Shakespeare’s classic comedy As You Like It, a young lady named Rosalind decides to follow her father into exile in the Forest of Arden. She disguises herself as a boy and hilarious and heartwrenching hijinks ensue.
PCS’s performance of As You Like It includes Princeton University students Frank Africano, Anna Aronson, Aly Beveridge, Chris Littlewood, Jordy Lubkeman, Cameron Platt, Scot Tasker, and James Walsh. It is directed by class of 2016 member Rachel Wilson.
PSC was founded in 1994 by Shakespeare enthusiast Davis McCallum. The student-run group began to stage its first productions under the guidance of Professor Thomas P. Roche, and quickly grew to become one of the university’s most respected theatre groups. Currently, the company performs the traditional works of the Bard, plays by Elizabethan and Restoration playwrights and modern works that interpret or relate to original Shakespearean texts.
Other performances of As You Like It are set for 8 p.m. on Oct. 3-5 and 2 p.m. on Oct. 5 at Princeton University’s Frist Film and Performance Theatre. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door, at the Frist Box Office or online at princeton.edu/utickets.
