Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra, based in West Windsor, presents “A Concerto Extravaganza” on Sunday, May 31, at 7 p.m. at the Princeton Alliance Church in Plainsboro.##M:[more]##

Conducted by its music director, Chiu-Tze Lin, the concert will feature winners of the 2009 Young Artists Competition, Sunny Chang, 14, on cello; Cheryl Peng, 16, on violin; and Andrew Sun, 17, on piano. They were selected among the group of 41 contestants in the competition held in February.

Chang, a resident of Millburn, emigrated to the United States from Seoul, Korea, two years ago. She has performed in Carnegie Weill Recital Hall, and has won first prize in New York Music Competition. Chang will perform the Dvorak Cello Concerto.

Peng, a sophomore at High School South, is a two-time grand prize recipient at the Taipei City Violin Competition. Currently a student of Lisa Shihoten, she previously studied with Naoko Tanaka. Peng received the highest score in the 2009 NJ Music Educators Association High School All States Orchestra audition. She has also been selected to perform in a master class for Arnold Steinhard of the Guaneri String Quartet. Peng will perform Saint-Saens Violin Concerto No.3.

Sun, a senior at High School North, is a student of Chiu-Ling Lin of West Windsor. A long-time resident of West Windsor, he is the winner of the 2009 Westfield Symphony “Rising Stars” Concerto Competition, and performed as a soloist in early May. Sun has received numerous awards in the NJ Music Teachers Association, and has been a highly-sought after piano collaborator for choruses. He will perform the Beethoven “Emperor” Piano Concerto.

Princeton University Chapel presents an organ recital featuring Plainsboro resident Camilla Jarnot on Tuesday, June 30, at noon. Her program will celebrate the patriotic season and include works by the composers Charles Ives, Aaron Copland, and Samuel Barber.

Jarnot, director of music at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Cranbury, has had a distinguished career as an organist and choir director. She is also organist for the Greater Trenton Choral Society, with which she will be performing Puccini’s “Messa di Gloria” on Sunday, May 31, at St. David’s, and on Sunday, June 7, at Trinity Cathedral in Trenton.

Jarnot, born in London, attended Charterhouse School as a music and academic scholar, received her bachelor and master’s degrees in music from London University, and her doctorate in organ performance from Boston University.

Before moving to the U.S., she gained experience as music director of the Team Ministry of Windsor, and as organist-in-residence at the St. Mary’s School in Ascot.

While pursuing her doctoral studies, Jarnot spent several years as Boston University’s associate organist, and taught organ in B.U.’s School for the Arts. She also performed on several occasions under the direction of Robert Shaw in major choral works given by Boston University’s Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.

Her organ teachers have included Max Miller, Andrew Lumsden, Jeremy Filsell, and Margaret Phillips. She has participated in masterclasses given by Peter Hurford and the pianist John Ogdon. Occasionally, she collaborates with her brother, baritone Konrad Jarnot.

Sinfonietta Nova, also a West Windsor-based orchestra, presents “Sounds of Italy,” concert on Saturday, June 6, at 7:30 p.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 177 Princeton-Hightstown Road, West Windsor. The program includes Gabrielli’s Canzon septimi toni (Sacrae Symphoniae), Rossini’s Overture to Guillaume Tell (William Tell), Mendelssohn’s Symphony no. 4 (“Italian”), as well as various operatic excerpts by Puccini and Verdi.
