On Thanksgiving morning in Mercer County Park we held the second annual Mercer County Turkey Trot to raise money for local food pantries, including the Jewish Family and Children’s Service kosher food pantry, the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, and Rise in Hightstown. More than 650 participants, ranging in age from 1 to 83, from not only New Jersey but also from 17 other states, came out for the second year of this 5K run and one mile fun run/walk. As a result of the generosity of those participants and our generous sponsors, we raised more than $25,000.
Thank you to this year’s Mercer County Turkey Trot sponsors for their support and their efforts in helping to make the event successful: Roundview Capital, Lennar, Bank of Princeton, Happy Wanderer Bakery, Advocare Garden State Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, OrangeTheory Fitness, McCaffrey’s, First Bank, elements therapeutic massage, Marshall Alter Dentistry, Il Forno Restaurant Trader Joe’s, Wegmans, Document Depot, and Murray Brenman Graphic Design for their support and efforts. Without them, this event could not have taken place.
Thank you to all the volunteers who have helped make this event happen, including working on Thanksgiving morning. Thank you to everyone who participated in the 5K run or the one mile fun run/walk. A special thank you to Jenna Rose Venturi, a freshman at Stuart Country Day School in Princeton, for her beautiful performance of the national anthem; Steve Shueh from Roundview Capital for his welcome comments; West Windsor Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh for his warm introductory remarks; and Assemblyman Dan Benson for offering a New Jersey State Proclamation in honor of the event.
This year’s Mercer County Turkey Trot was a great event and a fantastic way to kick off the Thanksgiving holiday. Mark your calendars now for the Third Annual Mercer County Turkey Trot to be held on November 28, 2015, and help us make this event a wonderful annual family tradition!
