Helen Ming and I are running for the WW-P Board of Education. Both of us have young children and are caring parents. We are both motivated to keep our schools great and provide opportunities for all children.
Helen Ming has been a West Windsor resident for over 10 years and I have been living in West Windsor for seven years. The two of us are very active in our schools.
Helen Ming has been an active volunteer at the Maurice Hawk PTA and participated in events like book fair, family picnic and carnival, International Day, field trips, staff appreciation breakfast, to name a few. I have been an active volunteer in my children’s classroom by reading books in Spanish on Star of the Week, Field Day, assisting with lunch and dismissal, being part of the Global Challenge for 8th graders for two consecutive years.
Educating our next generation is something that we do not take lightly. Both of us are committed to making curriculum changes based on academic studies and long term research, not the latest fad. We will work hard to ensure that our students have a solid foundation and will be able to flourish when they head out to their next phase in life. We are committed to the notion that all WW-P students should be educated to their maximum potential.
Both of us have a strong financial background. We understand the planning and budgeting process and will ask questions that have not been asked for a very long time. As business owners, we know how important the bottom line is. However, looking for savings doesn’t necessarily mean the quality of our education needs to be sacrificed. We believe in excellence in education. We believe that there is room for improvement at WW-P. We believe we can enhance students’ educational experience. We believe WW-P can do better, and that the school board can be more transparent.
On Nov. 7, when you head to the polls, please think very carefully whom to vote for. Would you like to have the same status-quo or do you think that we need improvement?
