The West Windsor portion of the ballot was definitely confusing.
I have lived in West Windsor for 27 years. My husband and I make a point of studying the ballot and reading the positions of the candidates in local newspapers. Yet, because the alignment of candidates for council was out of sync with the mayoral listings, we still voted for one council candidate without realizing the individual was not part of the team of our preferred choice for mayor.
My husband and I are professors. If this ballot had been an exam in one of our classrooms, the results would have to be thrown out because the choices were unnecessarily confusing and misleading. However, if the intent was to make sure that voters could not identify political parties and running mates, it was quite effective. What a shame for the voters and council candidates.
