The Trenton Downtown Association is hosting their annual Patriots Week this year from Saturday, Dec. 26 to Thursday, Dec. 31.
The week aims to celebrate the Revolutionary War-era in Trenton, as well as explore how the war shaped Trenton’s streets, buildings and overall history. Each day between Christmas and New Year’s is filled with events to reflect on the city’s history.

There will be a live mural painting from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 141 East State St. in Trenton. Muralist Illia Barger will create a multi-panel mural inspired by the events of the Battle of Trenton in an interactive interplay with her audience. See the mural take form throughout the week! Featuring Trenton Coffee Roasters’ mobile coffeehouse.
Tours of the Old Barracks Museum, 101 Barrack St., will be taking place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The tours start on the hour. Tours of the Old Barracks Museum highlight the history of this 1758 military barracks and its close link to the Revolutionary War. $8 adults; $6 students and seniors; free for active duty military personnel and Old Barracks Association members. Tours of the 1719 William Trent House will run from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 1719 William Trent House, 15 Market St. Tour the home of the founder of Trenton, William Trent! $5 adults; $4 children and seniors.
Lecture: “It’s All About the Cannon” at 1 p.m.Ellarslie Mansion in Cadwalader Park, 299 Parkside Ave. A table-top presentation by David and Nick Bosted shows how American and Hessian infantry and artillery maneuvered in the town during the First Battle of Trenton.
General Admission to the Trenton City Museum from 12:30 to 4 p.m. in Cadwalader Park: 299 Parkside Ave. The Trenton City Museum at the Ellarslie Mansion features contemporary art exhibits and displays of artifacts relating to Trenton’s storied past. www.ellarslie.org.
New Jersey State Museum & Planetarium, has shows at 12 p.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
New Jersey State Museum, 205 West State St. boasts numerous galleries on the history of New Jersey and more! Stop in and check out their new exhibit “Generation Fit!” or see the night sky on Dec. 26, 1776 during a Planetarium show! Colonial Ball from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Historic Trenton Masonic Temple, 100 Barrack St. Enjoy an evening of 18th-century merriment! Learn the dances of our Founding Fathers while listening to live music and mingling with the soldiers of the Battles of Trenton. $17.76 advanced tickets; $20 at the door.
