Award-winning BRHS theater students to present Sweet Charity

The award-winning theater students of Bordentown Regional High School will present the musical comedy Sweet Charity on April 14, 15, and 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bordentown Performing Arts Center.The upbeat musical—with music by Cy Coleman, lyrics by Dorothy Fields and book by Neil Simon—follows Charity Hope Valentine’s quest for love in 1960s New York City. Charity’s heart and her hard-earned wages may always go to the wrong man, but nothing gets her spirits down. Featuring hit songs and dances such as “If My Friends Could See Me Now,” “Rhythm of Life” and “Big Spender,” audiences are sure to leave the theater smiling.The original Broadway production was nominated for nine Tony Awards, and Bob Fosse took home the trophy for Best Choreography. Sweet Charity has since had two Broadway revivals and has been performed worldwide.Sweet Charity stars seniors Cynthia Reynolds (2015 Greater Philadelphia Cappie Award winner for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a musical for her role in The Pajama Game) as Charity Hope Valentine, Liam McCormack as Oscar Lindquist and Scott Price as Herman. Featured in the cast are junior Nicomah Faiz as Daddy Brubeck, sophomores Daria Briggs as Nickie and Varun Andrews as Vittorio, and freshman Abigayle Harnum as Helene.In 2012, Bordentown Regional High School’s musical, Legally Blonde, was awarded the prestigious Greater Philadelphia Cappie Award for Outstanding Musical. Over the past five years, the Cappies have honored BRHS Theater performances with over 30 nominations and 11 awards.
