Students from Robbinsville High School’s musical department will perform the hit “Seussical” for their spring showcase, a show that includes all of the classic Dr. Seuss books into one musical.
Favorite “Cat in the Hat” will be included in the cast alongside Horton from “Horton Hears a Who!” and “Green Eggs and Ham.” Instead of showcasing one or two students as leads, musical director Brian Williams wanted to highlight the talents of many of the musical students at RHS and decided to perform this ensemble show. The show will include the talent of 30 cast members, who have been practicing for the last 10 weeks.
“Seussical” will take to the stage in Robbinsville High School Auditorium on April 8 at 7:30 p.m., April 9 at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and April 10 at 3 p.m. Tickets are sold on rp.booktix.com and are $12 for adults, $8 for students/seniors and $18 for a special backstage pass for the 1:30 p.m. children’s show on April 9.
“This is such a good show to involve the entire community both young and old,” Williams said.
The backstage pass allows kids third to eighth grade can do more than just watch. Before the 1:30 p.m. show April 9, students will be able to participate in a Seussical workshop where they will rehearse a number and learn about the musical. Later on, they will get to perform what they learn in the 1:30 p.m. show in front of their friends and family.
Williams and the department came up with this participatory children’s show after wanting to gain more involvement from the Robbinsville community—especially for all ages.
“It’s the idea that the community at every age can enjoy when they come and watch this show,” he said. “It truly is a family experience, and we are excited to showcase our talents to the community. This isn’t a show for high school and older audiences—even younger kids can come and be in our show.”
