West Windsor’s 12 all-stars weren’t the only ones to have an impressive run this year.##M:[more]##
With a win over Nottingham, 5-2, on July 19, the West Windsor Little League 11s advanced to the final six, following their pool play record of 4-0. They continued their success with a win against Robbinsville, 9-7, on July 22, and the team is looking to stay alive.
The team brought in a total of 72 runs in its first four games, while only allowing a total of eight runs through pool play. In its opener against Bordentown, the team won, 13-5, after being down 3-2 in the sixth inning. However, the boys sent 16 players to the plate in the sixth inning and scored 11 runs. Michael Radey, George Revock, and CJ Markisz combined to strike out 11 batters.
The team also came through on offense, as Revock had three hits and five RBIs, while Kevin Murphy had three hits, and Patrick Tso had two doubles.
The team blew out HTRBA, 25-0. Murphy struck out 10 HTRBA hitters over four innings, and Revock drove in four runs, including a two-run homer. On July 14, the team continued with another blowout, this time against Trenton Southwest, 13-0. Andrew Schoenblum and CJ Markisz combined to strike out six batters. Schoenblum had a double and a single, while Tso and Matt Kooker each had two doubles.
The team won its third blow-out on July 16, against Florence, 21-3. Kyle Siegler and Jake Nieschmidt combined to strike out eight batters from Florence, which was undefeated coming into the game. Revock hit two home runs.
On July 19 the team defeated Nottingham, 5-2, to advance to the winner’s bracket final on July 22, when it defeated Robbinsville, 9-7. Murphy struck out eight batters against Nottingham. The game was tied 2-2 in the fifth inning. Radey started a rally with a two-out double, and Patrick Tso hit a three-run home run to finish Nottingham off.
