New Jersey Transit will attempt to alleviate the parking shortage at the Princeton Junction train station by starting its first valet parking service there.##M:[more]##
According to spokesman Joe Dee, the program is being started to allow more of the station’s estimated 7,”000 daily riders to park legally at the depot, which has parking slots for 2,”800 cars, in addition to 930 spaces made available exclusively to West Windsor residents.
Dee said the valet service will be available on a monthly basis, but prices have not yet been set. Pricing will be determined by a company to be contracted by NJ Transit in conjunction with the West Windsor Parking Authority. A request for proposals will be issued soon.
Dee did not know how many more cars could be accommodated by the valet system. “This is a pilot program,” he said. “But we think customers are going to like this.”
