Trenton Water Works will resume service terminations for customers with past-due accounts, including commercial accounts, on Monday, March 17.
Customers will begin receiving shut-off notices in the coming days and have 15 days to contact the utility to prevent service termination.
“TWW will begin terminating accounts that are 90 days past due, so we urge customers experiencing payment challenges to call Customer Care to learn about payment agreements,” said Michael Walker, spokesman for the city’s Department of Water and Sewer, which operates Trenton Water Works.
Residential customers with delinquent accounts of 90 days or more, with balances exceeding $1,500, are eligible for a 12-month payment agreement.
This agreement requires an initial payment of 25 percent of the past-due balance. Commercial customers with delinquent accounts can enter into a three-month payment plan, which requires a 50 percent initial payment.
“Payment plans cannot exceed 12 months for residential accounts and three months for commercial accounts,” Walker added. “Contacting us to set up a payment plan is crucial to keeping service active and avoiding further collections actions, such as a water lien or sale.”
Customers seeking payment agreements can reach TWW’s Customer Care call center at 1-866-TWW-BLUE between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Additionally, several non-profit organizations in Mercer County are available to assist customers struggling to pay for utilities, including water bills. These organizations also offer housing and food assistance. They include:
