A contest to design a banner for the Trenton’s Capital City district is underway.
Representatives from the City of Trenton, the Trenton Downtown Association and the Trenton Arts Explosion are seeking banner submissions that add beauty, visibility and impact to the district.
Executive director of the Trenton Downtown Association Christian Martin said the banner contest is an opportunity for artists to showcase their work and create an inviting environment in Trenton.
“The winning banner design will add cohesion to downtown Trenton, making it more welcoming and attractive to residents, employees and visitors,” Martin said in a statement.
Submissions may be in full color and include www.DestinationTrenton.com in the design; however it is not required.
Artists must submit their entry to Jonathan Gordon at jgordon@trenton-downtown.com by May 24.
A jury of local professional artists, city representatives and professionals are set to judge entries on how well they represent the character of Trenton’s downtown district, how well the artwork welcomes individuals to downtown Trenton and the quality of the artistic representation of Artisan and Historic themes.
Contest representatives are set to notify the winner by May 31.
The winner is set receive a $300 cash prize and his or her work reproduced on 30” by 60” banners installed throughout the Capital City’s downtown district.
