Princeton ArtWalk, a series of Thursday evenings highlighting the array of visual arts destinations available in downtown Princeton, will next take place Thursday, May 2 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Anchored by the Princeton University Art Museum and the Arts Council of Princeton’s Paul Robeson Center, ArtWalk affords visitors a way to discover the visual arts scene with an array of venues open to the public free of charge. Currently offered on a quarterly basis, but with planned changes ahead beginning in fall 2013, Princeton ArtWalk offers a cultural sampler, an opportunity to experience music, entertainment, and refreshments, as well as a chance to rediscover downtown Princeton.
Princeton ArtWalk venues include the Arts Council of Princeton’s Paul Robeson Center, the Bernstein Gallery of the Woodrow Wilson School, Cranbury Station Gallery, Firestone Library, the Historical Society of Princeton, Labyrinth Books, the Lewis Center for the Arts, Morven Museum and Garden, the Princeton Public Library, the Princeton University Art Museum, and Small World Coffee.
Activities scheduled for May 2 include a night of art trivia with Princeton University graduate students at the Princeton University Art Museum, the opening reception for the exhibition “Mimesis” curated by Thaddeus Erdahl at the Arts Council of Princeton’s Paul Robeson Center, a Princeton University senior art exhibition at the Lewis Center for the Arts, and a meet and greet with collector Roy Pedersen at Morven Museum and Garden.
Now wrapping up its second year, Princeton ArtWalk began through a series of conversations between the Princeton University Art Museum, the Arts Council of Princeton and the Princeton University Library.
Eventually both nonprofit and for-profit organizations on and off campus joined in the effort.
