The West Windsor-Plainsboro Babe Ruth 15-year-old All Stars finished their season with a loss in the state finals against Ewing-Hopewell Babe Ruth. The boys came out of the loser’s bracket swinging, beating EHBR 3-2 in 11 innings and forcing an “if” game. Hopewell came out on top, though, in the teams’ sixth match-up of the summer. The two squads split the season 3-3.

On the road to the state finals, however, WW-P captured the District One title, defeating Ewing-Hopewell in yet another extra-inning game, 2-1. It was the team’s first banner in eight years. Starting pitcher Michael Ramirez led the boys in the district final and was relieved by Ben Goldstein, who also scored the winning run after a Samrath Singh sacrifice fly.

The squad is evenly split between 14 and 15-year-olds, as the two age groups merged at the beginning of the season. Manager Brad Mitchell led the team, while Steve Lichtenstein and Ed Doherty assisted him.

Goldstein, Singh, Kevin D’Cruz, Chris Gonnella, Jack Lichtenstein, Cole Millinger, Jacob Mitchell, Arjun Peri, Neal Singal, and Dylan Welch comprise the West Windsor portion of the team, while Scott Doherty and Ted Yasson represent Plainsboro. Pitcher Ramirez is a Princeton native.

Over at West Windsor Little League, the 12-year-old baseball All Stars advanced to the District 12 loser’s bracket semifinals before being ousted by Sunnybrae, 11-0, on July 7. The 12-year-old softball All Stars made it to the winner’s bracket semifinals but lost to East Windsor, 5-0, on June 29.

The junior softball squad captured the Section 3 title over Marlboro, 3-1. The girls defeated Spring Lake Heights and then Marlboro in the tournament’s first round and semifinals.

The 9/10 softball squad made it to the District 12 finals, but lost to Robbinsville, 11-0, on July 14. The 10/11 baseball All Stars won their District 12 winner’s bracket semifinal game and will play in the final on Friday, July 24.
