Harleen Jaswal, Erin McElwee, Rose Soskind, Grace Ro, Alina Afinogenova, Varsha Sundararaman, and Prawallika Gangidi — all members of the High School South girls’ golf team — spent the summer volunteering with the Greater Trenton First Tee organization, which teaches children of all backgrounds how to play golf. In addition, kids also learn the importance of a positive attitude, making decisions while being aware of possible consequences, learning how to set goals, and leanring how to transfer the positive values of golf into their everyday lives.

The Match Fit Chelsea Academy U-16 girls soccer team earned a berth in the Super Y League National Championship Tournament that will take place in November. The team, which includes Alexa Kogan, Marissa Edwards, and Christine Niciforo, all of High School North, finished the season with a record of 7-1-3.

The Eastern Express swim team is holding an open house try-out on September 9 at 5 p.m. at the College of New Jersey Aquatic Center in Ewing. For more information, visit www.expressswimming.com.

Registration is now open for the fall sessions of Express Swim America Learn to Swim program. The program begins September 11 at the TCNJ Aquatic Center. All swimmers are welcome to the program, which is designed to develop swimmers of all ages. Registration forms are available at www.expressswimming.com.

Meredith Davies, Emily Hung, Shannon Lerner, and Annie Menninger — of the West Windsor Whalers — set a pair of relay records in the 11-12 girls’ division at the Princeton Area Swimming and Diving Championships. The relay team set the record in the 200-meter medley relay, with a time of 2:25.69 and also in the 200-meter freestyle relay, with a time of 2:09.39. The Whalers finished second in Division I, with 2,257 points.

Vanessa Lerner, Catie Raeter, Lizzie Demoine, and Brynn Peterson also set a record in the 100-meter medley relay in the 10-and-under division, with a time of 1:17.90. Matthew Lequang earned the Most Valuable Swimmer in the 8-and-under boys division.

Rabia Syed and Roman Horoszewski, both of West Windsor, swam for the New Jersey Swimming team at the Eastern Zone Long Course Age Group Championship in Rockville, MD, this month. Syed swam in the 13-14 age group, while Horoszewski swam in the 11-12 age group. Horoszewski placed 8th in the 400 free, with a time of 4:45.52. Both swim for Peddie Aquatics Association.

Horoszewski also finished first in both the 800 free (9:45.62) and the 1,500 free (19:01.47); placed second in the 100 free (1:03.27); and placed third in the 200 free (2:15.83) at New Jersey Swimming’s Junior Olympics in New Brunswick.

Charles Cai and Ryan Siegler, both on North’s golf team, participated in the Big “I” National Golf Tournament in July. Cai tied for fourth place in the qualifier round, with a 71-75—146.
