Princeton Day School’s arts and design faculty is set to display their work in the Anne Reid ‘72 Gallery.
The exhibition is set for Oct. 15 through Nov. 13. An opening reception is scheduled for Oct. 17 from 12 to 1:30 p.m.
This year’s exhibition features individual works in painting, drawing, photography, ceramics, sculpture, woodworking and video from David Burkett, Eileen Hohmuth-Lemonick, Jerry Hirniak, Chris Maher, Susan Reichlin, Stephanie Stuefer, TJ Erdahl and Mic Boekelmann.
Upper School photography teacher Eileen Hohmuth-Lemonick plans to exhibit photographs she took in Cuba recently, including an impromptu Cuban festival and the decaying 1991 Pam American Games Stadium. She said she tried to dedicated time to work on her own projects.
“I fell in love with photography more than 30 years ago, and never looked back. Most of my time is spent teaching photography to others but each year I shoot at least one project for myself,” Hohmuth-Lemonick said in a statement.
Lower School Art teacher and oil painter Mic Boekelmann is set to display will exhibit three paintings. Boekelmann said she likes doing portraits, especially close ups of faces.
“I like the face—up close, personal and with no distractions. When I put down the oil paint with my brush or palette knife, a dialog starts between the subject and me. It is filled with curiosity, joy, and passion which I describe with warm colors, texture and dramatic play between shadow and light. I know I have a good portrait when I feel the essence of the story has been told and I can stare at it for hours,” Boekelmann said in a statement.
The exhibition is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday when school is in session, and by appointment on weekends.
The Anne Reid ’72 Art Gallery is part of the Princeton Day School arts wing dedicated to photography, ceramics, architecture and dance, as well as woodworking, set-building and performance art spaces.
