Eric Christoffersen of Plainsboro recently founded Rethink Innovations, a new business doing audio, video, and network design for commercial facilities. The business designs and installs audio, video, and IT based systems for commercial clients. Christofferson works with contractors or architects to design the infrastructure of the facility, and then manages the installation of the equipment so that it is functioning as designed. The company will then provide ongoing support for the installed equipment.
Born in Camden, he has lived in Plainsboro for close to four years. After studies at New Jersey Institute of Technology, he moved on to the Recording Workshop in Chillicothe, Ohio for an education in the film and music industry, where he finished second in his class. Over the years he has worked on more than 300 films — both major and minor.
He managed the New York office for Dolby Laboratories for 10 years. While there, he designed two digital cinema theaters, one mixing room, several conference rooms, and the IT infrastructure. He was also project manager for three internal construction projects.
“The idea is to be able for the average user to easily use high tech equipment without the training,” Christoffersen says. “Before designing any solution the first step is to best understand how it will be used and who is using the system. Once you do this little bit of business analysis you can design a system that not only what the client asked for but also what they really need.”
