As week six of the New Jersey highschool football season was in action last weekend, many Mercer County teams took the field with hopes of claiming a victory. Some programs have aspirations of championships, while others are already looking ahead to next season, but the beauty of highschool football is anything can happen on any given week. Here are the Mercer County results from week 6.

Ewing (1-5)

Ewing was able to pick up their first win of the season on KIPP Cooper Norcross Academy on Saturday. After a rough start to the season for the Blue Devils that included four losses by 1 score, they won in dominant fashion 33-14. Junior running back Josh Missick led Ewing to victory, rushing for 96 yards on 19 attempts and tallying his fourth touchdown of the season. The Blue Devils will look to build on this win next week as they take on Allentown on Saturday, Oct 11.

Lawrence (3-3)

Lawrence struggled to get their offense going on Saturday Oct 5 as they were taken down by West Windsor Plainsboro, 28-6. After opening the season on a three game winning streak, that momentum has flipped and this loss takes them to 3-3 on the year. Lawrence will need to turn the tide quickly after this loss as they face another 3-1 divisional foe in Burlington City on Oct 10.

Hun (6-0)

The Hun School of Princeton continued their dominant start to the season, beating Blair academy 48-0 improving their record to 6-0. HUN are led by their senior quarterback Jack Moran. Moran is committed to play at Charlotte University, a division 1 program. Through six games, Moran has already thrown for 2,836 yards and 31 touchdowns as HUN has played a national schedule including teams from Georgia, Maryland and Illinois. Next on the schedule is St. Francis(MD) and Moran and the Raiders hope to rack up their seventh win in as many weeks.

Princeton (3-3)

In what can be described as a defensive battle, Princeton high school defeated Holy Cross Prep 3-0 on Friday, Oct. 4. After tallying 41 points in week 5 against Robbinsville, the Tiger offense could not find the endzone at all on Friday night. Despite over 200 total yards, it came down to a game winning 18-yard kick by junior Carmine Carusone, who did a bit of everything for the Tigers, with 100 yards of total offense on the night as well. Head coach Charles Gallagher will surely try to get the offense back firing on all cylinders as they prepare for their next matchup against Nottingham.

Robbinsville (2-4)

Robbinsville dropped their second game in a row in a close game against Bordentown, 21-16. After taking a 10-0 lead in the second quarter, the ravens did not score again until late in the fourth quarter, and at that point it was too little too late. Sophomore quarterback Gavin Yablowski threw four interceptions as the offense struggled through much of the second half. The young quarterback is in his first year starting and has shown glimpses of what he can become with time, but if Robbinsville hopes to turn their season around, Yablowski will have to improve. They will have a chance to work out the kinks as their next matchup is against a winless Moorestown program.

Hopewell Valley (6-0)

The last three seasons have been full of success for coach Dave Caldwell and Hopewell Valley, as they extended their record to 6-0 with a resounding 35-12 win against Seneca on Oct 4. The bulldog offense has scored 35 points or more in every contest this season behind the dynamic duo of quarterback Milan Dasai and running back Ben Decore. Dasai, who is committed to play at Johns Hopkins, has already thrown for over 1,000 yards this season, and his backfield mate Decore is averaging 7 yards per carry with 10 touchdowns on the ground. These two seniors will look to bring home a South Jersey, Group 3 championship to Hopewell Valley.

Trenton (4-2)

Trenton dropped to 4-2 on the season after a 27-2 loss to Eastern. The offense for Trenton was unable to muster up any points, as the Trojans lone score on the day was a 2-point safety. Prior to this matchup, Trenton had won four games in a row including victories over Ewing and Hamilton-West. The Trojans will have to bounce back quickly as they are undefeated in division play and have three games remaining on their schedule.

Hamilton-West (1-5)

Hamilton-West was unable to put any points on the board against Nottingham, resulting in a 27-0 loss on Saturday, Oct. 5. The hamilton-West offense has been underwhelming all season, averaging less than 7 points per game. A division matchup against Robbinsville on Oct 18. will be critical if the Hornets wish to turn their season around.
