Plainsboro Patrolmen Arthur Gant, Joe Digeronimo, Dan Kanaley, Tom Larity, Scott Beatty, and Joe Breyta, all members of PBA Local 319, ran the Tough Mudder obstacle challenge in support of the Wounded Warrior Project. Their involvement raised close to $840 for the project which has raised more than $2.6 million.
“None of us knew what we were getting ourselves into when we volunteered to compete in the 2011 Tough Mudder Obstacle Course,” says Beatty. “The 12-mile event had about 24 obstacles to conquer including wading across an icy cold river after swimming through a pit of ice, crawling through underground mud pits, climbing over 20 foot walls, and surviving a field of electrically charged wires putting out 10,000 volts of electricity just before the finish line.”
“That may not seem like the most enjoyable thing to do for five hours on a cold October Sunday morning,” says Beatty. “For the six of us from the Plainsboro PBA Local 319, it was one of the best times of our lives.”
The team has already entered the Rebel Race being held on Saturday, April 14, in Manchester. The 5K course presents more than 20 challenges including leaping over fire barbed wire, net climbing, and trudging through endless mud pits. Proceeds from money raised through this event will be donated to sports programs in Plainsboro.
“We are looking for your support to help us raise as much money as possible this year and to put it right back where it is needed the most, in our community,” says Beatty. The community is invited to show support by sending correspondence and donations to PBA Local 319, Box 602, Plainsboro 08536. E-mail Support@PlainsboroPBA319.com.
