Maria Aristova, a junior at High School North, placed first in the “Prix d’Excellence” awarded by the Department of French at Princeton University and funded by the Government of France through the Center for Excellence in French Studies at Princeton University. Students in French classes taught by Eric Loveland and Jane Fasanella at High School North received top scores in the French examination sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French. The examination is highly competitive with several hundred students taking the exam at each level.
Freshman Aleesha Shaik, Dana Sievers, and Sophia Liu scored in the top 10 in the state on the Level 2 Exam. Freshmen Anthony Arias, Yqing Kong, Liliana Ma, Shivani Mantha, and Damini Saxena all ranked in the top 20. Louisa Ying, also a freshman, scored in the top 10.
Sophomores Oana Barbu, Sneha Basu, Christopher Bergman, Allison Casparius, Moya Chin, Teresa Hu, Hope Jin, Kaushal Khanbhati, Brian Lee, Namratha Minupuri, Hegine Nazarian, Sanja Stojanovic, Joshua Sung, and Neeraj Venkatesan all ranked in the top 20 in the state on the Level 3 exam.
Juniors Masuma Ahuja, Kelsey Rothera, Ramya Tallapragada, and Christine Zhao all ranked in the top 20. Carolyn Breden earned fifth place in the state.
Juniors and seniors in AP French include Sonal Kumar and Usha Rao, who scored in the top 20 ranking on the level 5 exam; Deena Mitlak and Yijing Zhang ranked in the top 10; and Ragini Sharma and Maria Aristova, both ranked in the top five in the state.
