Five students from High School South qualified as semi-finalists for the 2012 U.S. Biology Team. Arka Adhikari, Catherine Ding, Anushk Gupta, Kiran Vaidya, and Aayush Visaria are among the 500 semi-finalists and the best biology students in the nation.
The competition is among pre-university students from more than 70 countries and covers a wide range of biological topics including cell biology, molecular biology, plant anatomy and physiology, animal anatomy and physiology, ethology, genetics, evolution, ecology, and biosystematics. The Olympiad will be held in Singapore, from Sunday to Sunday, July 8 to 15.

High School South students were inducted into the German Honor Society Delta Epsilon Phi on March 24. They include Jesse Chang, Rebecca Finnie, Rebecca Hansen, Ashley Hasling, Emily Kramer, Kimberly Kullmann, Mollie Miller, Timothy Lee, Jonathen Menahem, Yun Ah Park, Kelsey Roder, Laszlo Sandor, Prashant Sharma, Michael Soskind, Akshay Thaper, Daniel Vaysburd, Aayush Visaria, and Maxwell Weiss.
The organization is for students who have excelled in the study of German for the last three years. Membership requires that they broaden their knowledge of German life and culture and work for peace and understanding among all people.
The induction was conducted by the German High School South AP class; Ute Dine, teacher of German at High School South; and Ann Marie Waidelich, teacher of German at Grover Middle School.

Phillips Exeter Academy: Brandon G. Kaplowitz, grade 11, of West Windsor, earned high honors; and Nikhil Raman, grade 10, of Plainsboro, earned highest honors for the winter term.
