The Lawrence High School Mock Trial Team recently competed in the Mercer County High School Mock Trial Competition, sponsored by the New Jersey State Bar Foundation.
The team, guided by teacher advisor Christopher Lonzson and attorney coach Michael J. Jordan, showcased its legal skills at the Mercer County Civil Courthouse in Trenton.
Student attorneys Jiyaa Revankar, Sofia Fuller, Isabella Herrera and Preeta Cyrus led the team, while student witnesses were portrayed by Karina Godovanyy, Hayden Perry, Andrew Dauber, Rishith Tenepalli, Ryleigh Cooper and Jacqueline Fuller.
LHS faced off against teams from the Lawrenceville School, Stuart Country Day School and Princeton International School of Mathematics and Science. The competition allowed the students to present cases as both prosecution and defense in front of real judges.
“The opportunity for the students to present their case in front of real judges underscores LTPS’s dedication to delivering authentic educational experiences that cultivate essential skills such as critical thinking, public speaking and collaboration,” said the Lawrence Township Public School District in a social media post.
