Off-Broadstreet Theatre is set to open its new series with Moon Over the Brewery by Philadelphia playwright Bruce Graham.
This series marks Off-Broadstreet’s 30th anniversary. On June 29, the theater will celebrate 30 years of continuous desserts and productions in Hopewell.
Moon Over the Brewery features a precocious teenager, Amanda, who still leans on the security of an imaginary friend, Randolph, when she realizes her single mom is entering a relationship. Mom, Miriam, works as a waitress to pay the bills, but her true passion is painting landscapes by moonlight. Miriam brings home Warren, a mailman whom she knows from the restaurant and Amanda’s and Randolph’s games begin. However, Warren may be more of a match than they had realized.
Jaedi Gambetese of West Windsor makes her Off-Broadstreet Theatre debut as the bright and mouthy teenager. The West Windsor-Plainsboro High School grad is currently a student at The College of New Jersey.
Gary Welbrock of Trenton returns the OBT stage as Randolph, the trouble making imaginary friend of Amanda. Welbrock last appeared in Hopewell in the musical Stardust.
Kyla Mostello Donnelly of Levittown, Pa., makes her OBT debut as Miriam. Steve Lobis of Newtown, Pa., plays Warren Zimmerman.
Moon Over the Brewery is directed by Kathy Garafano of Morrisville. Garafano recently played the Inspector in OBT’s run of The Games Afoot.
Performances of Moon Over the Brewery are scheduled for Jan. 10 – Feb. 8. Friday and Saturday shows are set for 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees are 1:30 p.m. Doors open an hour prior to the show for dessert.
Tickers are $29.50 for Friday and Saturday, and $31.50 for Sunday shows. There is a senior citizen rate of $27 for Sunday matinees.
Additionally, OBT is offering a new subscription, which includes five shows; Moon Over the Brewery, Breaking Up is Hard to Do, Pygmalion, Merchant of Venice and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Subscriptions are available for the series through Feb. 8.
