First Hopewellians program set for Aug. 7

Archaeologist and archivist Jim Wade is set to present a family program on Native Americans.

The First Hopewellians: Native American Lifestyles, Villages, and Pathways in Pre-colonial New Jersey is scheduled for 7 to 8 p.m. at the Hopewell Boro Railway Station, 3 Railroad Place, Hopewell.

The program is suitable for ages 6 and up.

Wade is set to discuss the way of life of native Hopewellians, including their horticulture, food preparation, tools, weapons, dress, shelter, rituals, and worship practices.

His presentation also includes information about place names in New Jersey that are associated with Indian villages, words, and specific individuals. He will also touch on the Indian trails that criss-crossed Central New Jersey, some of which passed through Hopewell Valley

The program is part of the Hopewell Public Library’s Wednesday Night Out series.
