Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County is planning to host its 4th Annual Walk for Wellness, set to take place on Saturday, June 21 at Veterans Park in Hamilton.
The event will commence at 9 a.m. and aims to support the invaluable services offered by ICGMC, including the statewide exercise program, Project Healthy Bones.
The Walk for Wellness is a community-driven event that highlights the importance of health, wellness, and support for seniors. This year’s walk promises to be a fun-filled event for participants of all ages and all abilities. Walkers have a choice of completing a 1-mile or 3k course along a paved route.
Project Healthy Bones is a weekly exercise and education class for individuals with osteoporosis and is designed to promote bone health, encourage social connections, maintain independence, and decrease the risk of fall-related injuries among seniors. The program focuses on empowering seniors to lead active and healthy lives, ensuring they remain vibrant members of the community.
“We are excited to host our 4th Annual Walk for Wellness,” said Lauri Harbison, Executive Director of ICGMC. “This event not only raises critical funds to support our programs, but also brings the community together to celebrate wellness and the spirit of caregiving. Our Project Healthy Bones program has transformed the lives of many seniors, and we are committed to expanding its reach through the support of events like this.”
Participants can register in advance online for $25 or on the day of the event for $35. All proceeds will directly benefit ICGMC’s wellness programs, ensuring they continue to provide essential free services to seniors and adults with disabilities throughout Greater Mercer County.
The Walk for Wellness is made possible through the generous support of local businesses and community partners. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. Those interested in contributing to this meaningful cause should contact us at sponsor@icgmc.org.
21 local non-profits and agencies will be joining the cause by having a table in the “Vendor Village,” each showcasing their unique contributions to our community. These organizations are eager to share their missions and engage with the public, offering insights into how individuals can get involved and make a difference.
