On January 9, 2016, a new playground at the Ewing Senior and Community Center was unveiled during a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Mayor Bert Steinman of Ewing, the Ewing Kiwanis Club and the Key Club students of Ewing High School.
The Kiwanis Club of Ewing Township recently completed the first phase of the playground and phase two is set to be completed in the spring of next year. The project will include additions to the playground for children who may be impaired. Phase one was funded by $15,000 donated by the Ewing Kiwanis Foundation and $16,500 from private donors. Phase two, estimated at a cost of $18,000 is in the process of being planned and with funds currently being generated.
The project, under the direction of past President Ray DiFrancesco and current President Gerald Spencer, could not have been completed without the assistance of Ewing Township employees who used heavy equipment to prepare the area for construction, and the Ewing High School Key Club, with their advisor Patrick Burly, along with members of the College of New Jersey’s Circle “K” Club, Kerrin McLaughlin, President. This collaborative effort by the Kiwanis Club, Key Club, Circle “K” Club, and the Township’s employees will insure that the children of the area have a fun place to play for many years.
