Mercer County Community College’s Center for Continuing Studies is offering a variety of special interest classes, including culinary and wine courses, this winter.
Classes are set to take place at the college’s West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.
More than 20 culinary courses are scheduled for the MCCC Culinary Center.
New classes include Go Green! taught by Chef Benson Yu. Participants will learn how to add vegetables and soy products to any meal to make it more health. The class is set to start Feb. 24
Chef Yu will also teach Asian noodle and seafood classes.
Pantry Raid, taught by Chef Frank Benowitz, is scheduled to being April 6. The chef will teach how to create a simple meal with leftovers and save money in the process.
Chef Meghan Cattani is set to teach Sunday at Nonna’s April 7 and An Italian Affairs April 20. Cattani will share Italian recipes like Beef Braciole and Veal Saltimbocca.
Wine connoisseur Bruce Smith is set to teach five new wine courses, including Long Island, NY Wines starting March 20. Other course set for March and April are Better Bordeaux, Great Wines Under $10 – Revisited, East Coast vs. West Coast – Blind Tasting, and Port and Port Style Wines.
CCS is not limited to food and dining courses, a fantasy baseball class is set to start Feb. 20. Fantasy expert Derek Carty will discuss evaluating players using statistics and scouting, preparing for a draft and managing a team.
Additionally, CCS is offering fitness classes. Adults and children can use the Olympic-sized swimming pool. Swim programs are set to begin in February and March.
A First Aid certification course for ages 16 and up is set to begin Feb. 27.
Students can try drawing, painting and ceramics in CCS’ Visual Arts Sampler set to being Feb. 22.
