The West Windsor Arts Council has added a theatrical twist to its mix of classes exhibits, and performances with its newly announced collaboration with Pegasus Theater Project. The company will kick off its first year in residence at the arts council with productions of David Auburn’s “Proof,” September 9 to 18, and Yasmina Reza’s “Art” in March 31 to April 9, 2017.
The independent, professional theater company was founded by Jennifer Nesta Zefutie, Judi Parrish, and Peter Bisgaier, all theater veterans. Bisgaier is also production manager for the arts council.
The art’s council’s unique setting provides an opportunity to highlight the interplay between creative media. “In the performance galley, the walls are always full of provocative artwork, which lends a distinction to the space and creates a unique environment for live theater,” Bisgaier said in a statement.
The production of “Proof,” a play focused on the daughter of a recently deceased mathematician as she struggles with genius and mental illness, will coincide with an Art & Science exhibit on view at the same time. “Art,” which explores the question of what art is through the story of three friends whose relationship is challenged by their differing opinions, will be accompanied by an exhibit of works by arts council members.
“This collaboration is significant as it will provide audiences with fresh, multi-disciplinary arts experiences that offer alternative interpretations of themes explored through the Arts Center programs,” said Aylin Green, executive director of the West Windsor Arts Council.
Season subscriptions for the two shows are $30 through June 15. For information visit www.pegasustheatrenj.org or call 609-759-0045.
