On October 14, 2015, the Lawrence Township Growth and Redevelopment Committee, in conjunction with the MIDJersey Chamber of Commerce, conducted an awards program which was held at the Boys & Girls Club located at 1040 Spruce Street in Lawrence Township.
The Growth & Redevelopment Committee was created by the Lawrence Township Council to consult with and advise the Council on matters pertaining to economic development. The awards were presented in eight categories to businesses, individuals, and civic groups that have enhanced the community in a special way: for job growth, expanding the tax base of the Township, building or renovating a structure that improves the quality of life in the community, or by participating in local activities that benefit the Township and its residents.
The Mayor’s Award for Economic or Community Development is given to a business, civic group, public official, or program that deserves special recognition for its efforts on behalf of the community. Recipient: Captain Paul’s Firehouse Dogs, 2230 Princeton Pike, Lawrence Township.
The New Large Business Award recognizes a successful new business (start-up or relocation) recently established in Lawrence Township. Recipient: Wawa, 2936 Brunswick Pike, Lawrence Township.
The New Small Business Award is given to a small employer, family, or individual business that makes a special contribution to Lawrence Township. This category recognizes the entrepreneurs that occupy the smaller spaces among the Township’s office and retail properties. Recipient: The Gingered Peach, 2 Gordon Avenue, Lawrence Township.
A Business Service Award is presented to a business that has made a significant contribution to the Township’s business or civic community, which may include a major building or renovation project. Recipient: Boys & Girls Clubs of Mercer County, 1040 Spruce Street, Lawrence Township.
A New Building/Renovation Award recognizes a significant new building or renovation project that enhances its surrounding neighborhood. Recipient: Mrs. G TV & Appliances, 2720 US 1 Business, Lawrence Township.
A Residential Award recognizes a significant restoration of a residential property that enhances its surrounding neighborhood. Recipient: Buckmiller, LLC, 974 Lawrenceville Road, Princeton.
The Podmore/Dwyer Historic Award celebrates a business, individual or community organization in Lawrence that promotes preservation of Lawrence Township history and/or has provided an effective educational avenue toward advancing knowledge of the Township’s rich history Recipient: Lawrence Intermediate School, 66 Eggerts Crossing Road, Lawrence Township.
The Ralph Copleman Environmental Award recognizes a business, organization, community group, or individual for environmental sustainability. Recipient: Lawrence Hopewell Trail Corporation, 197 Blackwell Road, Pennington.
