The new non-profit group Washington Crossing Park Association, Inc. of New Jersey is set to host its second community-wide educational symposium to celebrate the history of New Jersey in the American Revolution on Sunday, November 8, 2015 from 2 to 6 p.m. The program entitled “After the Crossing: New Jersey Patriots, Loyalists and Civilians in the American Revolution” will be held at the Union Fire Company Hall on River Road in Titusville, a short distance from Washington Crossing Park.
The three-part lecture series and commentary will focus on the people of New Jersey and their role during the American Revolution. Stan Saperstein, historical interpreter at Washington Crossing Park, will discuss the patriot soldier of the Revolution, followed by Todd Braisted, author and researcher of loyalist military studies, discussing soldiers of the Crown and New Jersey’s contribution to King George’s Army. The final speaker of the afternoon, Joe Wroblewski, retired educator and historian will cover privateers and pine barren robbers’ guerrilla war fare in New Jersey during the Revolution. The lectures and public question period will be moderated by historian and well known author, Larry Kidder, retired educator from the Hun School.
The afternoon talks, scheduled to run a half hour to forty-five minutes each, will be followed by commentary and questions from the audience. The event will include book sales from the historians present and information tables about Washington Crossing Park and the Washington Crossing Park Association, a newly formed friends group of the Park. The audience is invited to meet the speakers after the program while refreshments are served.
Anyone interested in attending may pre-register by contacting Bill Marsch at wrmarsch@optimum.net or attendees may register the day of the program beginning at 1:30 p.m. A ten dollar donation is requested; members of the W.C.P.A. are free but must pre-register.
