Juanita Yoder, a former resident of West Windsor and an internationally known artist, has joined forces with Edward Comisky to create Gallery 33, a gift and art gallery in the showroom of Comisky’s Greenhouse at 315 Franklin Street in Hightstown. The grand opening reception is Saturday, November 14, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Music by Lance Reichert begins at noon.
Yoder, whose painting on silk work hangs in the chapel at Princeton University, is also in collections in New York, California, and Sighisoara, Romania. She has a studio at the Art Station in Hightstown.
“I’m so thrilled to be developing this gallery to represent fabulous New Jersey art like Susan Winter paintings, John Shedd pottery, Wheaton Arts hand-blown glass, Terry Plasket pottery, and others,” says Yoder. “I’m enjoying watching visitors discover the Jersey-made gourmet treats, David Bradley Chocolate, and Wemrock pies and baked goods. New Jersey has a lot of gifts to offer and it’s great to combine them with the gorgeous flowers and plants of Comisky’s Greenhouses.”
John Shedd has created pottery for the Princeton-area restaurants Mistral, Elements, Tre Piani, and One 53. Gallery 33 carries unique, collectible pieces by Shedd, including one-of-a-kind porcelain fountains.
Susan Winter’s art is in the collections of Bruce Springsteen and the White House. Her oils and pastels have been widely collected in New Jersey. She shows regularly with the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club at the Salamagundi Club on Fifth Avenue in New York.
Wheaton Arts has long been a destination in New Jersey for art creation and education. Terry Plasket is a keystone potter at Wheaton Glass, and his vases and pots are now available through Gallery 33.
“We are bringing unique items to Hightstown, things you will only find here,” says Comisky.
