Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra based in West Windsor presents its annual holiday concert on Sunday, December 6, at 7 p.m. at Princeton Alliance Church in Plainsboro.
Orchestra members include professional musicians, high-level amateurs, university students, and gifted pre-college students. Chiu-Tze Lin is the conductor.
A community chorus of singers from area choruses and church choirs will bring selections from the Christmas section of Handel’s “Messiah.” This holiday concert will also present an all-time classic, “Carmen Fantasy” by Bizet, transcribed by Sarasate for violin solo and orchestra.
The concert program will also include Prokofiev’s “Lieutenant Kije Suite,” most famous for its “Troika” movement. The “Overture of Jewish Themes” brings a festive holiday tradition from the rich cultural diversity in Central New Jersey. The audience will be invited to join in the holiday music sing-along at the end of the concert.
