The boys from West Windsor-Plainsboro Babe Ruth won the 13-15-year-old District 1 championship, defeating Ewing-Hopewell Valley, 2-1, in extra innings. Ben Goldstein scored the winning run on a Samrath Singh sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth. Goldstein was also the winning pitcher, working a scoreless top half after Michael Ramirez threw seven stellar innings, allowing one run on five hits.
WW-P went 3-1 in the tournament and will host the Southern NJ State Tournament starting at July 9 at Ciuffani Field in West Windsor Community Park.

Princeton National Rowing Association’s Mercer Rowing Club (PNRA/Mercer) rowers won a bronze medal in the Women’s Youth Lightweight Eight plus coxswain event at the USRowing Youth National Championships in June in Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida.
Rowers in the women’s youth lightweight eight include three students from WW-P: freshman Sara Hansen and junior Eileen Hu, both from High School South, and High School North junior Elise Gorberg.
The lightweight crew won its heat on Friday to qualify for the semifinal round. In the grand final the crew clinched the bronze medal and trailed the silver medal winner by only 0.4 seconds.

The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New Jersey hosted the 47th annual Trusted Choice Big ‘I’ Junior Golf State Championship on June 29 at the Stanton Ridge Country Club in Whitehouse Station. Forty junior golfers from around the state participated in the 36-hole, stroke play tournament after qualifying at local tournaments.
Among those advancing to the national tournament is Bennett Perrine, 17, a rising senior at High School North. The National Trusted Choice Big ‘I’ Junior Golf Championship takes place Monday through Thursday, August 3 to 6, in Hutchinson, Kansas.

The Amazing Aces 12 & Under Junior Team Tennis team qualified for the Junior Team Tennis District Championships, which will be held at Mercer County Park on Tuesday, July 14. Team members from West Windsor include Timothy Roberts, Ryan Roberts, and Sanya Desai.
