YingHua International School, an English-Chinese immersion school based in Princeton, has five new directors. They include Cheryl Rowe-Rendleman of West Windsor and John Wang of Plainsboro. Kristin Epstein, the executive director and a resident of West Windsor, became the first non-Chinese heritage administrator of the school in 2013.

Founded in 2007, the full-time independent school for preschool through middle school grades, has more than 70 students being taught the majority of their subjects in Mandarin Chinese by native Mandarin speakers. The scholars also study English and Spanish as part of their world language program.

Some of the tasks of the new board of directors include oversight of the school’s candidacy period for the International Baccalaureate World Schools Primary Years Programme and to guide the school’s addition of international exchange programs. “This is an exciting time in education,” Epstein says. “The needs of our workforce are changing rapidly, and it is no longer enough to be competent in your field. Employers are eager for employees who also possess full-depth knowledge of a second language and cultural sensitivity.”

Rowe-Rendleman received her bachelor of arts degree from Princeton University and her Ph.D. in biochemical and biophysical sciences from the University of Houston. She held postdoctoral fellow positions at the University of Texas School of Medicine and the University of California San Francisco Medical School.

A clinical research and development professional, she has served as CEO of Omar Consulting Group, an ophthalmology consulting practice that specializes in creating business and clinical development know-how for companies with interests in eye diseases, since 2005.

She also serves in an advisory capacity for the Princeton Area Alumni Association, Princeton Alumni Executive Careers Committee, Graduate Women in Science and Engineering Association at Princeton, Princeton Prize in Race Relations, Davis International Center, Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey, and FIRST Robotics. She is on the board of directors of the YWCA-Princeton, where she champions the platform of scientific and medical literacy.

Wang graduated from Cornell University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering and has an MBA from Harvard Business School. He began his career as a designing engineer at General Motors. He was then a principal in the consumer and retail practice at A.T. Kearney, where he advised global companies on diverse topics including branding, innovation, and operations. Wang is now a director of portfolio procurement at Centerbridge Partners, a private investment firm. He partners with portfolio executives to drive supply chain and operations transformation.

Wang has lectured at MIT Sloan School of Business and the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon on topics ranging from business strategy to project management. He is an active member of The Centerbridge Foundation, an organization focused on serving low-income children and families in the areas of education and youth development. He is a Yinghua parent.

The school invites applications for the upcoming school year and Summer Camp. Visit www.yhis.org, E-mail info@yhis.org, or call 609-375-8015 for information.
