July and August will be busy months at the West Windsor Community Farmers Market, which is held every Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine, until Thanksgiving. Connect directly with the folks who grow and raise your food, enjoy live music, prepared foods, cooking demonstrations, and special events all in an open-air marketplace. “Pull up a chair or curb and enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes of our market,” says Chris Cirkus, the manager of the farm market and a resident of West Windsor.
Fifteen New Jersey farms and 11 artisan vendors gather weekly to bring a wide array of local products to the market. Seasonal, locally grown fruit, vegetables, mushrooms, pastured meats and poultry, dairy, and farm fresh eggs can be found at the market along with woven fiber products, breads, baked goods, flowers, plants, honey, prepared foods, soap, sauces, jams, pickled vegetables, and wine. Breakfast and brunch selections include Jammin’ Crepes, the Feed Truck, and freshly made juices from Tico’s Juice Truck.

Princeton Healthcare System offers free blood pressure and health screenings every other week. Yes, We Can collects fresh food to benefit the Crisis Ministry of Princeton and Trenton every other week. There are also cooking demonstrations every week.
Saturday, August 15, is the annual amateur peach pie contest. Bake your best pie using local peaches and from-scratch crust. Last year’s WWCFM winner went on to win the title of Best North Jersey Peach Pie in the state competition held by the NJ Peach Promotion Council. There are prizes for winners. Saturday, August 29, is the second Food Writer and Photographer Panel. The discussion brings together food writers, bloggers, and photographers to discuss the joys of eating, living, and writing food. Food writers include Katie Parla (Parla Food), Pat Tanner (Dine with Pat), Justine Ma (Little Miss Local), and Linda Prospero (Ciao Chow Linda), along with renowned Brooklyn based photographer Clay Williams (Ultra Clay).
Musical performances scheduled include Don Lee on July 25, Barncats on August 1, Jeff Griesemer on July 8, Rodeo Gypsy on August 15, Blue Son on August 22, A Little Bit Off on August 29, and John and Carm on September 5.
