Mercer County Community College’s (MCCC) Marketing and Communications Team recently brought home seven awards in the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) District 1 competition.
Community colleges from throughout the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom were represented at the ceremony in Washington, D.C. Mercer was awarded a gold medallion in recognition of MCCC’s successful social media campaign to promote alumnus and Trenton native Jesse Herrera’s cross-country bicycle trip to raise funds for the college’s Trenton Campus. His 55-day, 3,400-mile, 12-state trek, named “Herrera Across America/Miles for Mercer,” generated 233 tweets, 27 Instagram posts and $2,000.
The “Herrera Across America” campaign was also granted a gold medallion in Electronic Media for their online version of The Viking magazine, silver medallions for their Quakerbridge Mall displays; academic catalog; and Camp College catalog, and bronze medallions in Communications Success Story and Social Media Contest for their “Appear in Mercer Gear” Pinterest contest.
The National Council for Marketing & Public Relations is the only organization that exclusively represents marketing and public relations professionals at community and technical colleges. As one of the fastest-growing affiliates of the American Association of Community Colleges, NCMPR has more than 1,550 members from more than 650 colleges across the United States, Canada and other countries.
