A number of personnel changes for the 2014-’15 school year necessitated a special meeting of the WW-P Board of Education on May 13.
At the supervisor level, Melissa Pearson, a math teacher, was appointed K-5 Math Supervisor to replace Bob Krech, who is retiring (The News, April 18). K-12 Science Supervisor Rebecca McLelland-Crawley, who oversaw the unpopular honors biology pilot program at High School North, will step down in September.
“Rebecca wanted to return to her passion, which is teaching,” said Superintendent David Aderhold. “She applied for the position of gifted and talented teacher (PRISM) for Community Middle School, to replace Karen Rosnick, who has resigned. Rebecca went through the interview process, along with several other qualified individuals, and has been selected for the position. She will begin as the PRISM teacher in the fall.”
Other personnel changes include appointing Amy Immordino as a third-grade teacher at Maurice Hawk, to replace Christy Taylor Tuthill-Todd, who resigned, and reassigning current High School South music teacher Janice Anderson-Chapin to serve as a music teacher for Maurice Hawk and Dutch Neck elementary schools.
Several teachers have also announced they will resign as of June 30. They include: Roseann Bonora, High School South language arts; High School North Spanish teachers Ina Colella and Nancy Koricki; Michael Drake, HSN math teacher; HSN science teacher Chuen-Chin Hsuchen; and Community Middle School math teacher Stephen Schaeffer. In addition, Grover Middle School guidance counselor Joyce Ragucci will retire in June.
In other board action, a contract for HVAC upgrades in the Dutch Neck cafeteria was awarded to Falasca Mechanical at a cost of $178,200.
The next regularly scheduled board meeting will be held Tuesday, May 20, at 7:30 p.m. at Grover Middle School.
