is set to take place on Saturday, June 14, from noon to 5, rain or shine. More than 15 gardens and public spaces in the historic Trenton neighborhood of vintage row houses will be open to the public, including an “oasis” atop a penthouse loft, an outdoor dining room with climbing hydrangea, a half-life-sized game board for chess or checkers, and a beekeeper’s garden. Also on view will be the vegetable garden of Mercer Street Friends, housed in one of Trenton’s two old Quaker Meetinghouses, and the unique plantings of the Architects Housing project along the Assunpink Creek. The tour starts at Artworks, 19 Everett Alley at South Stockton Street, where free parking is available. Tour goers will also have the opportunity to buy artisanal ice cream at one of the garden locations, to benefit Mill Hill Park. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased on the Society’s webpage, trentonmillhill.org or at various locations around Mercer County. See the website for advance ticket locations. The Garden Tour is sponsored by the Old Mill Hill Society and proceeds from the tour help fund the Mill Hill Neighborhood Historic Preservation Grant Program to assist residents in making historically appropriate repairs to the home exteriors.
