The Lawrence Library is set to offer a six-week acting workshop on monologues.
Julie Ellen Prusinowski is set to lead a workshop entitled, Curtain Up: Mastering the Monologue.
During the workshop actors at all levels explore the unique voice that brings characters to life on stage using individually selected monologues with a focus on storytelling. Curtain Up is designed for actors college-age and older.
Prusinowski has produced and directed professionally for more than 30 years, most of that time in New Jersey, and has worked with many regional playwrights, including William Mastrosimone, Mark St. Germain and Bruce Graham. She has taught acting, directing and theatre history at several colleges, including Rowan University and Bucks County Community College. Prusinowski holds a bachelors degree in Educational Theatre, a masters in Acting and Directing, and has completed course work for a PhD in Theatre History, Literature and Criticism.
The workshop is scheduled for 6:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays Sept. 15 to Oct. 6 and Tuesdays Oct. 14 and 21 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Lawrence Headquarters Branch Library of the Mercer County Library System. Attendance to all six classes is expected.
Class size is limited. Registration is required and is set to begin 9:30 a.m. Aug. 18. Participants must register for each individual class date online at mcl.org
