The deadline for a teen art program applications is scheduled for Feb. 15.
Young Audiences of New Jersey & Eastern Pennsylvania is accepting applications from 13 to 17 -year-olds for the Emerging Artists Creativity Hub.
EACH is a teen arts program designed for individuals who are interested and gifted in the arts. The program is intended for students to study and work in the arts beyond the high school curriculum.
Students in EACH will participate in a 10-week program 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays at the Arts and Interactive Multimedia Building on The College of New Jersey’s Ewing campus. Classes are set to begin Feb. 13.
Along with studying different forms of art with teaching artists from the Young Audience’s roster and working on individual and group projects, students will visit cultural institutions like the American Museum of Natural History and Grounds for Sculpture.
Former EACH student Elmi Ventura Mata said the program helped him develop as an artist.
“EACH worked magic for a talented yet skeptical teenager like me,” he said. “I am an emerging New Jersey artist, thanks in part to EACH.”
Mata now attends The Cleveland Institute of Art and is a recipient of the Governor’s Award.
EACH receives funding and support from the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation and the ongoing support of the School of the Arts and Communication at The College of New Jersey.
Young Audiences’ mission is to provide children and adolescents with arts educations. The organization brings its roster of artists to schools to teach about music, theatre and visual arts. Young Audiences is partially funded through grants from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and Department of State and Pennsylvania Council of the Arts.
