Plainsboro Township has updated and formalized some of its policies and procedures, specifically its personnel policies and procedures manual.
“The Township has had personnel policies and procedures in place for a long time,” said Township Administrator Bob Sheehan. “Recently we made revisions to update and reflect changes in the laws, especially relating to the areas of sexual harassment and government ethics law. The information has also been reorganized so that it is easier for employees to find and read.
“We worked with the staff and representatives to get this done. Although it is an internal document, really an electronic file with numerous sections on topics such as employee benefits, disciplinary actions, ethics, sexual harassment, and is designed mainly for employees, it is an important document.
“It is critically important to have all of the personnel policies and procedures written down and easily accessible, because when conflicts arise, the information needs to be clearly laid out ahead of time. It is a safeguard that allows us to handle such conflicts. The manual guides our relationship with our employees, and also sets forth the standards we expect employees to uphold. It also puts our managers on notice regarding how they are required to behave towards their employees, especially in the areas of sexual harassment and ethics.”
The revisions to the manual, first introduced at the March 27 Township Committee meeting, were approved unanimously at the April 10 Committee meeting.

The paving project that will require lane closures, turning restrictions, and detours on Scudders Mill Road at Campus Road has been rescheduled for overnight periods (from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.) from Monday, April 29, to Friday, May 3. The intersection will be open for ambulance access to the hospital’s emergency room at all times.
#b#Tax Due Dates#/b#
Second quarter property taxes will be due Wednesday, May 1. A drop box is located in the stairwell at the police entrance of the municipal building. Payments received in the tax office or the drop box after 4:30 p.m. on May 10 will be charged interest back to May 1.
