Ryan Siegler went 6-under par, with a score of 66, to win the Cherry Valley Tournament on April 25. North came in third place at the tournament, with 230 points.

A loss to East Brunswick, 2-0, on April 18. Rob Olsen: three kills, four blocks, three digs. Matt Lee: three kills, two blocks. Derek Sanchez: five digs. Christian Baron: 11 assists.

Sports Briefs

Matt Davidson of West Windsor finished tied for ninth at the Fresh Express Classic on April 17. He earned $15,000 and moved to number 30 on the Nationwide Tour’s money list. He finished with a 204. Davidson has banked $21,258 so far on the tour.

North senior softball player Sydney Turchin reached her 100th career hit in North’s 15-0 win over Hopewell Valley on April 14. Her 100th hit was a triple. She will play softball at the University of Pennsylvania next year.

South senior lacrosse player Kendal Borup scored her 100th career goal in the team’s win over Princeton, 13-9.

South graduate Eric Valero scored 10 goals for the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute men’s lacrosse team this season, where he has played in all 12 games. He has a .526 shooting percentage — the team’s best.

Alex Prieto, a South graduate and a member of the Bucknell men’s track and field team, was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week on April 25. He had a 46-4 in the triple jump for third place at the meet. He was also sixth in the long jump, with a mark of 21-0.

Kyle Stiefel, of Princeton Junction, and a 2009 graduate of the Peddie School, helped the Lehigh lacrosse team qualify for the upcoming Patriot League post-season playoffs. Stiefel scored nine goals this season and has one of the highest shooting percentages on the team. The winner of the Patriot League tournament will be an automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division I lacrosse championships. The Patriot League playoffs will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Channel on Saturday, April 30, and Monday, May 2.

Kia Ponader, a junior at High School North, had a successful finish to the regular Level 9 gymnastics season at the NJ State Championship on March 19. In the Senior A age group, Ponader took third place all-around with a personal best of 36.525. She placed second on the uneven bars, third on the floor exercise, and tied for seventh on Vault.

Ponader will join gymnasts from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and West Virginia in the regional competition in Landover, MD. From there, the top six gymnasts in each age group will move on to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals in May.

The South Brunswick Community Education Program will host adult evening tennis lessons. Adults will learn to play or improve their games. The sessions include one hour of stroke work and drills and one-half hour of game strategy and play each evening. Players work in small groups based on their ability level. All levels are welcome. There is no senior discount. Each session consists of six evening lessons from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the South Brunswick High School Courts. Adults may sign up for as many sessions as they want for $146 each.

Session 1 is Mondays and Wednesdays from Monday, May 2 through Wednesday, May 18. The deadline to register is Friday, April 29. Session 2 is Mondays and Wednesdays from Monday, May 23 through Wednesday, June 8. The deadline to register is Friday, May 20. Session 3 is from Monday, June 13 through Wednesday, June 29. The deadline to register is Friday, June 10.

West Windsor resident Jack McIntyre, 12, placed seventh in the 500 free (5:16.43) in the 11-12 age group at the 2011 Short Course Age Group Championship from March 31 to April 2 in NY. He swims for the Eastern Express (EEX) swim club.
