With a strong showing at the Mercer County Relays, the spring track teams at both WW-P schools are doing well this season.

North’s boys and South’s girls both hold 4-0 records, as the girls prepared to head into the Penn Relays on April 28, after the News’ deadline.

North began the season with two healthy Rosa twins — Jim and Joe. While Joe Rosa missed a large portion of the fall season after surgery to repair what is called the calcaneonavicular coalition — a genetic condition — in his right foot, he ran for most of the indoor season.

The North boys also came out on top of South at the tri-meet with Robbinsville on April 20, where Joe Rosa took first in the 3,200 with a 9:12, followed by teammate Casey Dalrymple, at 9:36. Lee came in first in jumps of 5-10 and 21 feet.

At the Mercer County Relays, North’s boys posted second place finishes in the shuttle hurdles, 4×800, and spring medley, capping off a good showing.

The South girls have been doing well leading up to the Penn Relays. Making important contributions this season are Ashleigh Delemos, Mariam Fadiga, May Chang, and Emily Mauro.

Against Trenton on April 26, Delemos won the 100 in 12.2, the 200 in 25.6, and finished the triple jump at 35-1.50, also for first place. Meanwhile, Mauro won the 400 with a 60.8. Fadiga finished first in the shot put with a 35-4.5 and javelin, with a 94-6. Chang finished first in the distance double with a 5:33/8/12:31.

The South girls also swept the tri-meet against North and Robbinsville on April 20, led by Mauro, Delemos, Fadiga, and Ingrid Simon.

Mauro posted a 59.5 in the 400; 2:25.8 in the 800; and finished a 59 second leg on the 4×400 that helped South land in first place at the meet. Delemos posted a 12.5 in the 100; 26.2 in the 200; and 15.5 in the 100 hurdles. Caroline Kellner ran the 1,600 in 5:09.8, and took second in the 3,200, with a time of 12:05.9, behind teammate Ingrid Simon, who finished first with a time of 12:05.1. Fadiga posted a 109-3 in the javelin, a career mark.
