West Windsor-Plainsboro schools rose to the top in the New Jersey Science Olympiad Regional Competition. Community Middle School Placed first in the regional Science Olympiad. Art Downs coordinates the advisors. Grover Middle School team placed fourth in the competition. Rae McKenna and Dennis Cassidy are the teacher advisors. High School North placed second in the Science Olympiad Regional Tournament. Advisors are Holly Crochetiere and James Looney. High School South placed third in the Science Olympiad Regional Tournament. The advisors are Meenakshi Bhattacharya, Karen Galley, and Brenden Field.

The Community team members placed in 15 events taking six gold, three silver, three bronze, and two fourths. The team is now is the process of preparing for the state competition in March.##M:[more]##

Listed below are the events and the students as they placed:

First Place: Amphibians & Reptiles, Spencer Palombit and Feliz Xiao; Ecology, Brian Yuan and Frederick Huang; Meteorology: Aneesha Raghunathar and Alex Ameri; Mystery Architecture, Jennifer Ibanez and Alicia Tan; Oceanography, Alex Ameri and Renuka Reddy; and Rocks and Minerals, Renuka Reddy and Eugene Tang.

Second Place: Scrambler, Mohit Hajarnis and Frederick Huang; Simple Machines, Sanjana and Jennifer Ibanez; and Tower, Varnika Atmakuri, and Jennifer Ibanez.

Third Place: Anatomy, Saavanth Velury and Payal Marathe; Bio Process Lab, Spencer Palombit and Aneesha Raghunathar; and Food Science, Payal Marathe and Saavanth Velury.

Fourth Place: Science Word, Brian Yuan and Spencer Palombit; Write it/Do it, Alicia Tan and Varnika Atmakuri; and Junkyard Challenge, Sushruth Kamath and Elliot Xu.

Grover Middle School individual award winners:

Second Place: Write-it-Do-it, Ronald Yu and Peter Ku; Disease Detectives, Joan Kuan and Peter Ku; and Junkyard Challenge, Jerry Xu and Prathik Chandrasekaron.

Third Place: Meteorology, Charles Zhao and Aayush Visaria; and Tower Building, Kushal Gandhi and Saranth Jaladi.

Fourth Place: Bio Process, Gokhul Mohandas; Ecology, Udit Gupta and Saranth Jaladi; Food Science, Cathy Lin and Catherine Ding; and Oceanography, Udit Gupta and Rishabh.

Fifth Place: Anatomy, Alina Afinogrnova and Sahana Jayaraman.

Sixth Place: Amphibians and Reptiles, Kushaal Gandhi and Gokhul Mohandas; Mystery Architecture, Kushaal Gandhi and Apporva Shah; and Rocks and Minterals, Apoorva Shah and Aayush Visaria.

Seventh Place: Science Word, Cathy Lin and Catherine Ding; and Simple Machines, Ronald Yu and Peter Ku.

High School South students received individual medals for the following:

First Place: Boomilever, Manu Venkateswaran and Naveen Galla; Circuit Lab, Ante Qu and David Ku; Fermi Questions, Ante Qu and Piyush Poddar; and Oceanography, Piyush Poddar and Avinash Salgam.

Second Place: Cell Biology, Daphne Ezer and Becky Shi; Remote Sensing, Manu Venkataswaran and Aditya Girish; and Robot Ramble, Tiffany Huang and Will Zhuang.

Fourth Place: Physics Lab, David Ku and Tiffany Huang; and Rocks and Minerals, Manu Venkateswaran and Sudershan Srinivasan.

Seventh Place: Disease Detective, Daphne Ezer and Satyajeet Pal.

Eighth Place: Chemistry Lab, Naveen Galla and Will Zhuang; Electric Vehicle, Ante Qu and Piyush Poddar; and Protein Modeling, Nupur Gulati, Ankita Gore, and Nupur Gulati.
