Plainsboro’s redevelopment plan subcommittee is finishing up its work on a redevelopment plan for the 125-acre FMC site proposed by the University Medical Center at Princeton for a new hospital.##M:[more]##
According to Township Planner Ron Yake, the redevelopment plan subcommittee held its final meeting on November 26. The Planning Board will consider a final draft of the plan at its meeting on Monday, December 3.
The Planning Board is charged with preparing the redevelopment plan and determining the framework for the planning and public review of the proposal. The process is being coordinated by the township, its planning consultant, and redevelopment special counsel, and is being done in part by the master plan subcommittee.
The Township Committee approved of designating the site as an area in need of redevelopment in September, following a study of its eligibility for redevelopment status, as outlined by state law, and a recommendation by the planning board to do so.
UMCP plans include a 636,”000-square foot hospital with the potential for 324,”000 square feet of expansion. The medical offices would be 120,”000 square feet. A long-term car facility would be 120,”000 square feet. The proposal includes a continuing care retirement community that would include up to 400 units of age-restricted housing.
